Legacy Authentication provides independent third-party authentication services designed to help protect buyers, sellers, charities, and collectors within the UK memorabilia market.
We offer three core services:

Each service is explained in detail below so clients understand exactly what is provided, what is not, and how the process works.

1. Pre-Signed Item Authentication
Apparel & Equipment £17.99 per item (£23.99 for 2+ signatures on an item)
What is the Service?
This service provides an independent professional opinion on the authenticity of an already signed item, based on visual, microscopic, and comparative examination.
It is suitable for:

Sports shirts

Photographs
-
Programmes
-
Paper items
-
Flat memorabilia

How it works?
Each item submitted undergoes the following process:

Visual inspection of the signature
-
Microscopic examination of ink flow, stroke direction, pressure variation, and line consistency

Assessment of writing characteristics such as start/stop points, hesitations, and rhythm
-
Comparison against known reference material and documented signing characteristics where available
-
Review of any supporting provenance supplied by the client (optional)
Important: This is not handwriting graphology or personality analysis. It is focused purely on authenticity indicators.
Forensic Identification Mark (Optional)
Clients may choose to:

✅ Opt in to a discreet forensic identification mark

❌ Opt out and receive documentation only
If opted in, a non-visible forensic trace marker is applied in a discreet location. This allows the item to be linked back to its Certificate of Authentication and recorded reference number.
If opted out, the opinion is supported through:

Item photography
-
Unique reference number
-
Digital record entry
Clients opting out must confirm this in writing at submission.

2. Live Signing Witnessing
Event pricing available on request, Per-item certification costs may apply and Travel costs may apply depending on location
What is the Service?
This service provides in-person witnessing of a signing event, appearance, or private signing.
It is suitable for:

Charity signings
-
Store signings
-
Private or closed signing sessions
-
Sports dinners and events
How it works?
At a live signing, a Legacy Authentication representative:
-
Attends the signing in person
-
Confirms the identity of the signer
-
Observes the item being signed
-
Records the event details (date, location, signer)
-
Produces photographic evidence where permitted
-
Issues Certificates of Authentication (COA's) for all witnessed items
Each witnessed item is recorded individually.
What you will recieve?

3. Approved Supplier Scheme
The Approved Supplier Scheme is designed for dealers, sellers, charities, and organisations who regularly require authentication services.
What is the Service?
Sellers/ Collectors can subscribe to our Approved Supplier Scheme at annual cost and receive the following benefits:

Reduced per-item pricing

Priority processing
-
Use of “Approved Supplier” status

Listing on our website (optional)
How it works?
Approved suppliers pay:

£150 per year subscription
This gives access to:
-
£6 per item authentication rate
-
Consistent authentication records
-
Ongoing relationship with Legacy Authentication
There is no cap on item volume.
Responsibilities
Approved suppliers must:

Represent items honestly
-
Not misstate authentication outcomes
-
Use Legacy Authentication branding accurately
Approval may be withdrawn if standards are not met.

4. Online Quick Authentication Opinion
Upload photos of your item and receive a rapid professional authenticity opinion before buying, selling or submitting for full verification.
What is the Service?
An expert assessment based on high quality photographs. Completely electronic, no need to post.

Ideal for initial verification before buying, selling or full submission

Provides a professional likelihood opinion electronic letter (not a COA) that can be used to enhance selling or assurance of collections

Postage, Delivery & Responsibility
Sending items to us
Clients are responsible for:

Arranging postage to Legacy Authentication
-
Ensuring items are securely packaged
-
Choosing appropriate insurance and tracking
We strongly recommend:

Signed-for delivery
-
Adequate insurance for item value
Return Postage
Clients must also:
-
Cover the cost of return postage
-
Items shall be returned in the same packaging as received
This can be done by:

Including a prepaid return label
-
Requesting us to arrange return postage (cost added to invoice)
Drop off & Collections
Where practical, we may offer:

Local drop-off and collection by appointment
-
Meet-ups at agreed locations
This must be arranged in advance and subject to availability.
Liability Statement
Legacy Authentication does not take ownership of items, is not responsible for loss or damage caused during transit, and is not liable for postal delays or courier errors. Responsibility remains with the sender until safe receipt, and with the courier once dispatched back.
