Legacy Authentication provides independent third-party verification for signed sports memorabilia. Our services are designed to help collectors, resellers, and businesses demonstrate transparency, improve buyer confidence, and protect against fraud.
We assess pre-signed items using documented comparison techniques, high-resolution examination, and detailed record-keeping. Where requested, we also provide optional item marking and supplier accreditation.
01 Standard Authentication

Our Standard Authentication service provides a documented third-party opinion on the authenticity of a pre-signed item.
What this includes:

Visual and microscopic examination of the signature
-
Comparison against known exemplars and reference material
-
Assessment of stroke flow, ink application, pressure, and signing characteristics
-
High-resolution photographic records of the item and signature
-
A uniquely numbered Certificate of Authentication (COA)
-
Entry into the Legacy Authentication verification database
Marking is optional, clients must confirm in writing if they do not want the marking applied. Marks are applied in a non-intrusive area suitable for the item type.
Legacy Authentication provides a professional opinion based on available evidence at the time of assessment.
*Multiple signatures (2 + Signatures on a single item) will be at a charge of £23.99
Optional Forensic Item Marking (UV / Trace Mark) included at no extra cost.
Clients may choose to opt in to a discreet forensic trace mark applied to the item using a UV-reactive or traceable medium. The purpose of the mark:

Links the physical item to its certificate and database record

Helps deter substitution or reuse of certificates

Not visible under normal lighting
02 Event & On-Site Witnessing (By Arrangement)
Price available upon request
For private signings, charity events, or closed sessions, Legacy Authentication can attend in person to witness signatures being applied.

Fast, Professional Autograph Assessment. Our Online Quick Authentication Opinion service provides a rapid professional assessment of signatures and signed memorabilia using detailed image review and comparative analysis.
This service is ideal for collectors and sellers seeking an initial expert opinion before purchase, resale, or submission for full certification

Turnaround Time:
Most online opinions are completed within 24–48 hours of image submission.
The Online Quick Authentication Opinion is a preliminary assessment only and does not include a physical Certificate of Authenticity (COA). If you require formal certification, we offer full in-hand authentication services with issued COA. If your online opinion is favourable, you may submit the item for full physical examination and certification at our standard rates.
